Bosc, Organic
8 x 10
Oil on Board
Before I started eating these pears I decided to get them down on canvas.  Today is my partner's birthday, and being a painter and appreciator of art he wants to go see the Paley exhibit at the deYoung Museum, so we're heading into the city today.  Always inspiring and fun.  I'll take some pix to post later.

Masked
Oil on Canvas Board
8 x 10

I did this painting for the Daily Paintworks value challenge, and I was inspired by a  mask that was made on my daughter's face.  It's challenging to have this process done because you have to be very still while everyone around you is laughing and talking.....and then your eyes are covered....and you are completely in an interior space.  Many people find masks frightening and I know some who have attempted the process but can't stay with it.  I love masks,  all kinds....and all of the metaphors associated with them.  My daughter thinks there is something of everyone in our small family represented here.

Floating
8 x 6
Oil on Board
Set up a still life, started painting and this is what happened.......Okay by me...it was fun to do.    I  love birds....collect nests, skulls, feathers.....and have been very lucky to find them....I also like to photograph and paint them....and often walk at a bird sanctuary near my house.   Speaking of birds I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.  It's been beautiful here in between the rainy days....almost balmy....feeling very blessed.

Are You Looking At Me?
Oil on Board
8 x 10
Sold
My daughter took me to a friend's farm last year and there was a paddock with the most wonderful goats in it. I was able to get some great photos of the goats...and also some sheep and pigs.  This particular type of goat is a Nubian....which I didn't discover until a friend of mine....also into goats...told me.  They are such characters and very social.  This is the second goat I have painted and I'm sure won't be the last..... I've discovered I like painting animals..

Red Barn, Sunny Day
Oil on Board
8 x 10
At auction on the Daily Paintworks Site
I started this painting in the spring while taking a workshop with Tim Horn.  We were painting on the very beautiful Respini Ranch in Petaluma, and while most of the workshop was windy and foggy we were lucky to have some sunny moments when the fog blew away....I thought there was some potential  with the quickly laid in sketch, so I decided to finish it....and here it is.  The road is lighter in person.....I have been visiting my daughter for six days and this has been my first opportunity to paint in seven days.  Happiness.

I saw some incredibly beautiful sunsets when we were in Maine taking Tim Horn's painting workshop.....this is from a photo of one of them.  Maine is a lovely place.....the landscape, seascape and people.  We were there in September and we had some foggy....but still warm days.....and when it cleared the light was divine.  We met some great artists and interesting people and hope to get back there one day....my first trip East and a huge success!!!  I was inspired to take this project on right now because of the Daily Paintworks Cloud challenge.
