Painted this for the Daily Paintworks reflection challenge.  It was nice to work in a different size...I've been mainly painting 8 x 10 and 6 x 8 for a while.  I took this photograph at one of my favorite walking places in Corte Madera.  Lots of birds and good landscape views there for painting, photographing or just enjoying.

Went plein air painting with a good friend two days ago.  It was a beautiful morning at Bel Marin Keyes, one of my favorite walking and painting places.  This is the fourth painting I have done in this area.  I'm so grateful to have so many great places to walk and paint.  At this location I see egrets, little green and great blue herons, white pelicans, all manner of ducks, swans, who have babies now...so cute, bluebirds, swallows, osprey, hawks, quail, coyote bobcats....and more!!  Always have my camera handy here.

This finally got dry enough to get a good photo of it.  It doesn't look like it but there is a lot of paint on this board.  I painted this from a photo I took a few months ago and had a lot of fun doing it.  Happy with the results!

I've been wanting to get back to this painting and finish it up for some time.  Started this plein air at China Camp Beach, which is a great place to paint, and just be. The water was the most beautiful greenish color.  Love that.   A beautiful morning and I'm happy with the way this turned out.

The third and final rose for awhile.  I feel like I have some new information now so it will be interesting to see how the rose painting of the future will come together......moving on to finishing up some plein air paintings that needed a little correcting, and starting a new project.   I've had a lot of ideas floating around so I need to focus on one and get going.

Painted this yesterday as my second response to the Daily Paintworks rose challenge.  I'm going to paint one more today before moving on to something else.  I want to keep working on loosening up and getting more light into my paintings.  I'm much happier with both of these roses than my first attempt.  Always a big learning curve with painting....which is part of what I love about it.

This is my effort for the rose challenge on Daily Paintworks.  Its the second rose I have painted, ever, and it amazes my how challenging flowers can be, in spite of a lifetime of gardening, observing and caring for them.  I tried to step out of my box a bit and feel that I was partially successful in that, and will do another on from life next.  I'd like to "get" this.  This painting is from a photo I took of a rose in my garden.

Ya know how sometimes you get your teeth into something and even though it isn't working you just keep at it?  That would be this painting.  This is my second swipe at it too....yesterday was a total wiper and after spending the day on it that's exactly what happened.  I don't think I will wipe this one but keep it as a reminder that sometimes its best to let go and move on.  I did enjoy working with the shadow box and think I will have to spend more time getting used to setting up still life's that are interesting and work.  Life's a learning curve.  I haven't been able to get in the studio for a couple of weeks and it will be nice to get into more of a flow.  In the meantime I have no shame and here it is.
The good news is I'm posting more in spite of myself.  Hah.

This is a painting from more fall/winter.  This is one of my favorite morning walking places and the colors were really popping as they often do when the ground and plants are moist.  In the right corner in the back there was actually a Nordstrom where the barn is.  I liked the idea of the barn better....so there it is.

Hopefully I will have something I'll be happy to share show later.

Tim's workshop was wonderful as usual and it was what a great, game group of people.  The weather was far from perfect, in fact lots of fog, but everyone rallied and there was some very good work being done.  A satisfying experience in every way.  Here we are in Nicasio with Tim's demo.
That's Tim with the brush in his hand.  His painting was beautiful.  Here's a better photo of it.
I managed to get two good paintings before the workshop and two wipers and a possible during the workshop.  Way it goes.  Still, a great experience.  Haven't been able to get any painting in since but today I am almost ready to get going.
