Iris
8 x 10
Oil on Board
A beauty from my garden and the last of the season.  An almost black purple, velvety and sensual.
Oranges
8 x 10
Oil on Board
SOLD
This was my response the the Daily Paintworks challenge Warm and Cool.  I had been eyeing the bowl and the oranges for a while, so this was the perfect time to get at them.  It was a great exercise, as most of the challenges are.  I'm working on another warm/cool now, but a floral. My garden is overflowing with reasons to paint flowers.  It's a tug of war....painting, the garden, painting, the garden...to me both are canvases and what I consider art.  Painting a floral I can happily do both!

French Lace
French Lace
Oil on Board
8 x 10
French Lace is one of the favorite roses in my garden.  They have such a delicate beauty and scent.  This is the first rose I have painted.  I plan on doing more in the future and  will be fun for me to see how they develop.
China Camp Daydream
Oil on Board
8 x 10
I'm embarrassed to say that this was the first time I have ever been to China Camp, which is about fifteen or twenty minutes from my house and an historical and lovely place.  The views are spectacular, and many artists and art workshops happen here....and weddings, apparently.  There is a trail head I will have to explore another time.  No dogs allowed...darn.  There are so many historical buildings, a pier and a great old wreck of a boat.  Perfect painting.  The weather was lovely....I'll be heading back there soon to participate in a Tim Horn painting workshop.  Trying to get the feel of it first.
Zoë
Oil on Board
8 x 10
Sold
I have never met Zoë so it was a challenge to paint her portrait, hoping to capture her personality the way her human experienced her, and it was commissioned as a gift from a mutual good friend.  I really wanted it to be a success.....her owner cried when she saw it......she loves it.....Happiness all the way around!!
