Okay....I've been putting off updating my "daily" blog for way too long....so here I go now.  It's always difficult to go backwards and reconstruct, but I also think its a good process for me, and in the end maybe I will be better about keeping up with it, for myself if nobody else. I mean, seriously, almost a year ago I had just finished a plein air workshop with Tim Horn...which was fabulous, as ever...always learn so much.  I think that View From St Vincent's was the best piece from that experience.  I've done several of the Daily Paintworks Challenges and I have no idea of the order anymore....so I will just post what I remember...Some things are coming back to me now.....I also started to do a 30 paintings in 30 days series, a great exercise, and found the challenges helpful for inspiration.  This was my response to the Paint The Moon challenge, and was # 13 of the 30 days series.  By the way...I only made it to 15.....I'm going to try again this year.

Front and Center #6

I was really trying to stay loose with these and while I didn't succeed so well I learned a lot and it was a fun exercise. I love sunflowers....happiness.

Apricot Morning
8 x 10
Oil on Board
SOLD
The apricots were really good last year and I had just purchased this vase specifically to paint it....I thought it had such an interesting shape and a great color.
I went on a little food binge so here comes some tomatoes.

Three Hotties
6 x 8
Oil on Board
I had never painted tomatoes before and I wasn't too happy with the results....but I learned some things so it was worth the effort.  These never made it to the Daily Paintworks page.

MacIntosh x 4
9 x 12
Oil on Board
This, however, did make it to the Daily Paintworks site and is one of my most commented on pieces.  This was my response to the Four in Four challenge.....I was able to stay pretty loose with the apples.  Happy with them and it was a fun challenge too!

Calla #1
8 x 6
Oil on Board
This was for the Composition Challenge.  It was also the first bloom I had from a calla lily bulb my daughter had given me....so pretty!

Sitting in the Sun #2
8 x 6
Oil on Board
In the meantime here is number 2 of the NOT 30.....paintings.
This sits in front of a house in my neighborhood, I pass it quite often and the light was so great I had to take a photo.  I may try this again in the future.
I have to take a break now.....get to painting.
